Medicare Annual Enrollment: Don't Just Look at the Monthly Premium!
From October 15 through December 7, Medicare beneficiaries have an opportunity to review their Medicare Advantage and prescription drug coverage for 2027.
But here's something many people overlook: The cheapest Medicare plan isn't always the one that costs you the least.
A plan with a $0 monthly premium could still leave you paying thousands of dollars in medical expenses throughout the year.
Before keeping or changing your coverage, ask yourself these five questions:
Are my doctors still in network? Provider networks can change every year.
Are my prescriptions covered? Formularies, drug tiers, and restrictions can change.
What is my maximum out-of-pocket exposure? A low premium doesn't necessarily mean low healthcare costs.
Will I need referrals or prior authorizations? These requirements can affect access to care.
Would Original Medicare with a Medicare Supplement be a better fit? Depending on your situation, it may offer greater flexibility and more predictable medical expenses.
Why Work With an Independent Agent & Advocate?
As an independent agent & advocate serving Jacksonville and Northeast Florida, I help clients understand their options, not simply choose a plan based on a commercial or a monthly premium.
My job is to advocate for you, explain the fine print, and help you make an informed decision about your healthcare coverage.
Remember, the right Medicare coverage isn't necessarily the cheapest. It's the coverage that best protects your health, your finances, and your freedom to choose your care.
Medicare can be complicated. You don't have to figure it all out by yourself.
